IS MY CHILD TOO YOUNG OR TOO OLD TO START DANCE?

Yes! Beginners are very welcome at Powerhouse. Our Technique Track (Powerhouse Dancers) offers age-appropriate Intro/Combo and beginner classes that build coordination, rhythm, and confidence. Older beginners are placed into Teen/Junior beginner classes so they learn skills at an appropriate pace. If you’re unsure, contact the studio for a placement recommendation.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CLASS IS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?

We place students by a combination of age and experience. Start by reviewing the class descriptions and recommended age ranges on our schedule. If you’d like a personalized recommendation, reach out to the director or bring your student for a quick in-studio placement check — we’ll suggest the best class to match their current ability and goals.

Note: dancers who wish to join the PAC (competitive) Track must audition.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO CLASS?

Dress for class so instructors can safely evaluate alignment and technique:Ballet: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes; hair in a neat bun (black shorts/skirts optional).PAC classes (Thursdays): wear black, red, or cheetah-print dancewear to represent PAC colors. Tan jazz shoes are required for PAC classes.Footwear: tan jazz shoes for PAC; clean sneakers for Personal Training; appropriate shoes for each genre as noted on the class listing.Hair: always pulled back and secured out of the face.Bring a refillable water bottle to every class and any required shoes.

CAN WE TRY A CLASS BEFORE ENROLLING?

Absolutely! Prospective students may observe or try a class depending on space and schedule. Contact the studio to request a trial or observation and we’ll confirm availability. (If you plan to miss a regular class later, remember our make-up policy: one make-up class per month when absences are reported at least two hours before class.)

Question 5

WHAT ARE THE WEEKEND OR PERFORMANCE COMMITTMENTS?

The Powerhouse Recital is held at the end of April. Costumes for Technique Track students are an additional $75–$100 (due in November), and there is a $50 family recital fee due in March.
PAC Track students have all performance and competition fees included in their monthly tuition (no separate recital/competition fees).
Weekend commitments depend on your student’s program: competitive PAC families can expect competition and convention dates (weekends) during the season; Technique Track families should anticipate rehearsal and recital-related weekend rehearsals as scheduled. Specific dates are provided well in advance — contact the studio for the current season calendar.
